CRSQA / USAEYES Surgeons May be Hazardous to Your Health

CRSQA (Council for Refractive Quality Assurance) is a referral service for LASIK surgeons, operated by Glenn Hagele out of his home.  Despite its pretentious name, CRSQA is just a cynical marketing ploy that "certifies" refractive surgeons willing to fork over $7,000 in the first year and $5,000/year thereafter.  In exchange, Glenn Hagele provides these surgeons with a  bogus seal of approval on his USAEYES.org web site to promote their practices.  Don't be fooled by Glenn Hagele's advertising claims - CRSQA's quality "standards" are actually below industry standards.  In fact, Glenn Hagele's only educational qualification is a High School diploma.

CRSQA filed a petition for bankruptcy protection in August 2010 in order to halt a lawsuit filed against it by Dr. Lauranell Burch.  CRSQA currently has claims pending against it for over $2.5 million by Brent Hanson, Dr. Lauranell Burch, and the IRS.  The claims are for criminal acts committed by Glenn Hagele, which include solicitation of residential burglaries, wiretapping, hacking into e-mail accounts, theft of banking records, and drug dealing.

In addition to issuing bogus certifications to LASIK surgeons, Glenn Hagele is now promoting himself as a "bankruptcy expert".

The following surgeons were known to have been certified by CRSQA / USAEYES as of January 2011.  Caveat Emptor.
